One theme: solve a social STEM issue. Find a real barrier that keeps people out of science and engineering, and build something that removes it.

Send us your team and the problem you want to solve. We reply to every entry with the full brief and the dates for your edition.

Build your team

One to four people, from any school, college or country. Solo entries are judged on exactly the same criteria.

Build the thing

Use anything you like — hardware, software, games, simulations, open-source tools or AI — as long as you disclose it and it genuinely works.

Show it working

Send a short demo video and a link to your code or design files, then present it live to the panel. A working prototype beats a polished deck.

What happens after you send it

A person on the Anantam team reads every entry and replies with the challenge brief, the build dates and the submission checklist. If anything in your idea is unclear, we ask rather than reject.

  • Free to enter, worldwide, no registration fee at any stage.
  • Teams of one to four. Mixed schools and countries are fine.
  • You keep everything you build. We only ask to feature it.
  • No prior hackathon experience needed.

Questions

Who can enter?
School students from class 8 upwards, university students, and early-career builders — from anywhere in the world. Every member needs to be at least 13. Teams can mix schools, colleges and countries.
Can I enter on my own?
Yes. Solo entries are welcome and are judged on exactly the same criteria as teams. If you would rather find teammates, say so in your entry and we will try to connect you with others looking for a team.
Do we need prior STEM or hackathon experience?
No. What you need is a real problem you care about and the willingness to build something. The five showcase projects are there precisely so you can see what a finished entry looks like before you start.
Can we use AI, or open-source code?
Both, freely — as a tool and inside your project. Credit the libraries and assets you use, respect their licences, and say clearly which parts you built during the hackathon. A project that is only a thin wrapper around a general AI model scores poorly on innovation and impact.
What do we have to submit?
A short written description, a demo video of at most five minutes, and a link to your code or design files. Hardware projects need enough photos or video for a judge to evaluate them remotely. It has to work well enough to demonstrate the core idea — be honest about what is finished and what is next.
Who owns what we build?
You do. Anantam asks only for permission to feature your project name, description and media on this showcase.
When is the next edition?
Dates are confirmed with each cohort and sent by email when you enter, so you always get the current calendar rather than a stale one on a web page. The previous edition's page is archived and linked in the footer.
